𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲: Actor Charles Laughton’s sole directorial effort is the visually arresting noir NIGHT OF THE HUNTER. An intimidating Robert Mitchum stars in an unforgettable role as a mysterious religious con man who marries an unsuspecting widow in order to find money that had been hidden by her late husband. When her children try to thwart his plans, he begins a terrifying reign over the household.

𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿: Maria DiBattista, Charles Barnwell Straut Class of 1923 Professor of English at Princeton University, has taught and written widely on 20th century literature and film. She is the author of Fast Talking Dames, a study of American film comedy of the thirties and forties.
